About Lil' Pear Tree

Lil' Pear Tree was started by my Mom & Dad, Joyce & Richard October 18, 1973, in Downtown Midland, MI. I grew up here and was encouraged to always try new things. My Mom was a great teacher and example of not only how to run a business but how to be kind and do for others.  

For many years we were full-service flower and gift shop.  n 2015, I decided to add freeze dried floral preservation to our available services. What an exciting addition to what we were already enjoying. With Covid, came more changes and we decided to leave Downtown and move to a space that was easier for our clients to access with large floral pieces they wanted to preserve. 

We are one of only 2 floral freeze-drying preservationists in the whole state. It's a specialized process and is labor intense but what amazing keepsakes are created for our clients. Whether is a bridal bouquet, a Mother's Corsage from her son's wedding, a single rose from a dear friend's casket piece, we are always honored to get to help make a special memory. 

In 2023 another change occurred...we began to freeze dry candy, fruit and vegetables. Oh, what fun! It's run is like a really great science experiment! We offer a nice selection and are always open to suggestions for something new. 

And then in 2026 we decided to start to offer freeze dried edible flowers. For years and years we would decorate wedding cakes with fresh cut flowers...mostly grown in other countries with who knows what types of chemical pesticides on them. Our freeze-dried edible flowers are safe for use with food and yes, you can eat them but you can rest assured knowing that carcinogens are not leaching into your food because you adorned it with beautiful flowers.
